Leatherback Turtles nesting sites

Applying what we have learned so far about Costa Rica and the environment I would like everyone to research what they can do to help, in some way, to make a difference in the natural world. Many of the nesting sites of the Leatherback Turtle have organizations that support the effort to help save this prehistoric animal. You can volunteer to protect them when they nest or tag them for important research information. Whatever you do, remember, "Be the change you want to see!"

Wiki Projects

www.wikipedia.org/ breaks the barriers between content creators and content consumers. The process of reading and editing are combined. For the purposes of this class explore wikipedia and http://wikitravel.org/ to supplement your research on Costa Rica and explore the world of wiki. Be sure to save backups of your work and don't be afraid to comment and edit what you read if you think you have something to offer. Students collaborating in wiki writing believe their skills are enhanced by fresh idea's and reading examples of others writing. Remember wiki is constantly changing and some content may be opinionated and not necessarily correct. Google some examples of wiki being used in other high schools. For example; "Pay it Forward" project at Arapahoe High School and watch the the Water Buffalo video. Learn to be good at using the Read Write Web, and its tools, to impact the world around us and help us prepare students to change the world.
